Are you experiencing conflict with a:

  • family member
  • coworker
  • neighbor
  • former spouse
  • landlord

or someone else? 

Contact Karen at kcotter@bloomsburgpl.org for a consultation or mediation.  Parties should agree to mediation prior to scheduling an appointment.

Consultations will include:

  • Assessment of the conflict;
  • Developing strategies to address the conflict;
  • Role play to practice strategies, if desired;
  • Confidentiality.

Mediation will include:

  • Facilitated discussion of the dispute by a neutral mediator;
  • Up to a two-hour session per mediation;
  • If parties agree, Karen can provide a one page, non-binding Memorandum of Understanding which outlines their points of discussion;  
  • Confidentiality.

About the Facilitator:

Karen Cotter is on the social work staff team at Bloomsburg Public Library as part of our Good Neighbors Project. She has a Master of Science degree in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University. Karen is a trained mediator who volunteers with Susquehanna Valley Mediation. She has been a co-chair of the Braver Angels Bloomsburg Alliance and has received training as a moderator with that organization. Braver Angels is a citizens’ organization uniting red and blue Americans in a working alliance to depolarize America.
