About the Book:

For Black History Month, we’ll dive into this historical fiction novel that follows the interconnected descendants of two half-sisters, Effia and Esi, over 300 years and across two continents. One sister, Effia, marries a British slaver and remains in Ghana, while the other, Esi, is sold into slavery and transported to America. The novel explores the enduring impact of slavery and colonialism on these families, interweaving their stories as they navigate trauma, identity, and the legacy of their ancestors.
